I'm so excited to be one of the featured presenters at Devacurl's upcoming Curls Night Out event June 17th in Tyler, Texas. The "Rose Capital of the United States" will become the epicenter of the curly world for the night as women with waves, kinks and ringlets from around the region gather for the celebration of curl culture.
Tyler is the first stop in what will be a nationwide tour culminating in a "curlapalooza" type event to be held in a stadium or arena filled with thousands of curlies. Curls Night Out will feature curly celebrities, personalities, stylists and curlies. A highlight of the event will be "The Curly Monologues" portion of the show, where women - and men - will share their own curly stories.
Other presenters include Shai Amiel, world-renowned celebrity “Curl Doctor;” Dr. Lew Losconey, motivational speaker with a PhD in "Psycurlogy"; and Stevie Jo Rosenbalm, a Top-20 finalist on the latest season of The Voice.
DevaCurl President Colin Walsh told me that he wants people to come away from the event with the feeling that being curly is something to be celebrated, enjoyed and expressed rather than fought, frustrated or controlled.
